DIGITAL DESIGNS has been building under hung coil/long magnetic field designs long before it recently became fashionable, in fact we’re already past our 10th generation. We've built about every variation of gap/coil motor systems. There is no "one design fits all applications" motor out there. We use different motors as needed to match specific applications.

What we've learned over the years is that controlling the voice coil is the most important function of the motor. In some models, we use long coil winding lengths in ultra long magnetic fields (over 60mm in some cases). We focus the outlining magnetic field surrounding the coil gap into useable energy to gain even more voice coil control. The more coil that’s in the gap, the more control you have over the coil motion. Surrounding the coil in a huge magnet gap also transforms the entire motor into one gigantic heat sink.

Our motors and voice coils are designed together to achieve optimum efficiency. We strive to keep the voice coils as short and as light as possible to increase sensitivity and speed. Our motors are larger than the industry norm so we can build in the highest possible potential energy.

Some of today's amplifiers can deliver over 7 Horsepower to the speaker coils. Power like this has to be controlled or it is useless. DD motors are ideally suited for today's high performance systems.

There are over 50 separate machining operations performed by computer-controlled mills and lathes in the manufacturing of our motor structure. All parts are cut to exacting tolerances and polished to a brilliant luster.
